Geekbench is a popular Mac benchmarking software that measures a Mac system’s performance by running a variety of tests that taxes individual components of a system such as the processor and memory and then gives an overall score of the system’s performance. ![]() To get a sense of how the new MacBook stacks up against its predecessor and Apple’s other notebooks, we decided to run Geekbench. As for Windows machines, we have included results of the Dell XPS 13, winner of the Ultrabook category in our last Tech Awards, along with the HP Envy and Microsoft Surface Pro 4. One thing to note is that Apple has dropped Bootcamp support for Windows 7, so Mac users who wish to run Windows on their MacBooks will only be able to choose between Windows 8 and Windows 10.įor comparison, we have included results of last year’s MacBook as well as last year’s 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina Display and the 13-inch MacBook Air. This will allow us run our usual suite of benchmarks and let us peg its performance against comparable Windows notebooks that we have reviewed. The issue is more clear cut on Apple A12X Bionic processor speed. Unfortunately, the Geekbench 4 data can’t confirm this because storage capacity isn’t a stat it lists. There’s an unconfirmed report that every 2018 iPad Pro with 1TB of storage gets 6GB of RAM, while all the rest have 4GB. But that’s just a handful of devices and might not be the whole story. The single 11-inch unit tested so far has 4GB of RAM, and multiple 12.9-inch ones have 6GB. Nevertheless, there isn’t a clear-cut answer for the 2018 iPad Pro yet. 2018 iPad Pro RAM and Processor speed?Īpple doesn’t announce how much RAM it puts in its iOS devices, but this specification is revealed by Geekbench 4. Still, the latest iOS tablet is better than its 2017 predecessor in myriad ways. But the starting price for the 15-inch model is $2399. The 11-inch version scores as high as 17,928 for multi-core and 4987 single-core.įor comparison, the 13-inch MacBook Pro with a Core i7 processor pulled in a 17,601 multi-core score. These indicate that the Apple A12X processor in the latest iPad Pro models outperforms the 13-inch MacBook Pro, no matter which processor the notebook uses. Scores for both versions of this new tablet have started appearing on the website for Primate Labs’ Geekbench 4, a well-respected benchmarking app. The 2018 iPad Pro won’t reach most people until next Wednesday, but there are clearly a few units out in the field. ![]()
